- I just discoved this news group and juts in time.
-
- I have a BOCA 14.4K Modem/Fax. It worked fine in my 286-20 but
- when I installed it in my Gateway 486dx-33, I had several problems.
- First, I set the com port on the modem to COM4 IRQ 3. I need to use com
- 4 because my mouse is on com1. When I get into QMODEM, I set the port
- to COM4 in QMODEM and configured the port (in qmodem) to 0x2e8 and
- IRQ 3. Now, when I switch to COM4 the screen scanged color (a black &
- blue) and the modem wouldn't do anything.
- I later switched everything to COM3, 0x3E8, IRQ 4 on the board
- and the in Qmodem. This worked except that I don't get any AT commands
- echoed but the commands work. I set the card to echo the commands but
- still nothing happened. I then used the windows terminal program and the
- sent the AT commands. It eventually, sends it after a while and echos the
- AT commands and the results.
- This is the strangest thing I've ever seen.
