  12.      Has anyone had any luck getting the optimize echo cancellation command
  13. AT\E1 to work correctly on a Zoom v32-bis modem with or without fax. I have
  14. the VFX model and find that after I execute the AT\E1 command I don't get
  15. error correction or compression when I connect to other v.32-bis modems.
  16. A friend sees the same thing on the fax-less version of the Zoom v32-bis
  17. modem. Zoom gave me a lame excuse about the negotiation for error correction
  18. taking longer than other modems might like with the echo cancellation in use.
  19. Sounds to me like smoke to cover the fact the feature just doesn't work right.
  20. I have seen that the Zoom v32/32-bis driver for Microphone II 4.0 for the Mac
  21. has a menu item for this function so I am curious if anyone has had it work
  22. right. Perhaps only on the v32 modems? I have heard that some v32-bis Zoom
  23. modems had problems connecting to 2400 baud lines so I am curious if it 
  24. might had worked right with an earlier set of EPROMS in the modem...
