  19. Mike... dividing up comp.databases comes up every so often (there was talk
  20. of a separate "xBase" newsgroup some time back) and I oppose them in
  21. general because the traffic on comp.databases doesn't warrant it.

  23. I don't use Paradox but even if I did (I believe) I would oppose fragmenting
  24. sources of information.  Just using myself as an example (rather than make
  25. up a mysterious "somebody") suppose that I used to use Paradox and that I
  26. know bunches about it but I don't use it any longer.  It isn't likely that
  27. I would bother to read comp.databases.paradox but I would continue to read
  28. messages here.  That means (in my example) that you would lose one source
  29. of potential answers.

  31. In any case, I just noted 14 messages in comp.databases if we divide them
  32. up by product we can have four new newsgroups and average 3.5 messages in
  33. each... but there will be more than that because somebody in .paradox is
  34. going to post a generic question like "what is normalization" and just to
  35. be certain they've asked everybody they'll repeat it in every group.

  37. To make a long story even longer, your posted difficulties with telephone
  38. support won't vanish if .paradox is created, you can post the identical
  39. questions right here.  CIS is a good idea however because you will have
  40. access to many more "users" and Borland also.
