- I currently am using Clipper, and am quite happy with it. But, at some
- time, it will be time to choose the next generation development platform - one
- that is windows based and object oriented.
-
- I have the 30 page CA Statement of direction about CA's replacement for Clipper,
- the object oriented windows compiler/db system called Aspen. Aspen looks
- amazingly cool, and should be a full replacement for C for windows programming.
-
- But then there's part of me that says "why not use Borlands C++ 3.1 with their
- object vision, and use the Paradox Runtime system?" I'm sure that Borlands C++
- and objectvision will be a few generations ahead of the initial release of
- Aspen for user interface stuff.
-
- Has anyone switched from Clipper to C++/paradox runtime, or does anyone have
- initial impressions about Aspen (which according to CA is in in Beta right now).
-
- Or are there other alternatives that I am missing??
-
- Any info would be great, and I'll post a summary if people are interested...
-
- Thanks,
-
- Glenn
