  12. I can't find a newsgroup on forward error correction, which adds
  13. redundancy to data (opposite of compression, to remove redundancy)
  14.  
  15. But I thought there might be a few people here who'd know if there
  16. any free/PD toolkits for FEC, just as there are kits for compression
  17. (after all, removing useless redundancy is just as important as adding
  18. consistent useful redundancy to the problem of data transmission)
  19.  
  20. I'm interested in experimenting with a few techniques. If anyone has some
  21. code for Reed-Solomon FEC codes, or Hamming, or block codes etc. that
  22. would be neat. Also, if anyone has any interesting error detection techniques
  23. that would be nice (I mean if there are new, neat techniques, not standard
  24. parity or CRC polynomials)
