- I can't find a newsgroup on forward error correction, which adds
- redundancy to data (opposite of compression, to remove redundancy)
-
- But I thought there might be a few people here who'd know if there
- any free/PD toolkits for FEC, just as there are kits for compression
- (after all, removing useless redundancy is just as important as adding
- consistent useful redundancy to the problem of data transmission)
-
- I'm interested in experimenting with a few techniques. If anyone has some
- code for Reed-Solomon FEC codes, or Hamming, or block codes etc. that
- would be neat. Also, if anyone has any interesting error detection techniques
- that would be nice (I mean if there are new, neat techniques, not standard
- parity or CRC polynomials)
