  26. There is a second way to compress GIFs as well... using GIFLITE, which *is*
  27. a lossy compression, unlike GIFBLAST.  However, the author of the program
  28. claims that the information which is discarded is only that which is
  29. impossible to detect with the human eye.  Images worked on by GIFLITE
  30. are still viewable, and I couldn't really tell the difference (though
  31. the files were certainly different.)  I'm not sure how well these two
  32. programs would work in concert, though I suspect there would be fairly
  33. improved savings.
