- I'm not competent to speak about the software needed to *manage* an
- archive site, but I do have a suggestion about how to get the bits to
- put onto your archive: CD-ROM.
-
- There are a number of publishers of freeware and shareware CD-ROMs.
- The prices are typically in the range of $25 - $50 per disc, and the
- producers generally have no problem with redistribution by archives.
- Compare these prices to the cost (and hassle) of FTPing the bits to
- Israel, and you may find the discs to be quite a bit cheaper. (You
- may wish to bring over updated versions electronically; the CD-ROMs
- are generally updated 1-4 times/year.)

- Here are some contacts, mostly in the UNIX freeware arena:

- Prime Time Freeware ptf@cfcl.com mostly UNIX
- Sterling Software kent@sparky.sterling.com mostly UNIX

-
- They resell a number of discs, and can give you an idea of what's on each.
-
- Finally, look at alt.cd-rom and/or FTP to cdrom.com:/pub and look around.
- The alt.cd-rom FAQ lists a number of CD-ROM vendors and distributors.
