- CALL FOR PAPERS
- WORKSHOP ON INPUT/OUTPUT IN PARALLEL COMPUTER SYSTEMS
-
- to be held at
- International Parallel Processing Symposium (IPPS '93)
-
-
- in cooperation with
- IEEE Technical Committee on Parallel Processing
- Newport Beach, California, April 13, 1993
- PAPERS DUE: JAN 31, 1993
-
-
- SYMPOSIUM: IPPS '93 will be held April 13-16, 1993 at the Newport Beach
- Marriott Hotel and Tennis Club, Newport Beach, California. The symposium
- is sponsored by IEEE Computer Society and is held in cooperation with ACM
- SIGARCH. IPPS '93 is a forum for engineers and scientists from around the
- world to present the latest research findings in all aspects of parallel
- and distributed processing.
-
- WORKSHOP: The workshop will be held on the first day of the symposium
- (April 13, 1993). The workshop will focus on the I/O bottleneck facing
- parallel computer systems for many important applications such as
- multimedia information systems and volume visualization. Recognition of
- the importance of this problem has been growing steadily, and proposed
- solutions include approaches based upon new hardware, architecture,
- systems software and algorithms. The workshop will bring together
- researchers in order to foster further research on these approaches and
- their integration into comprehensive systems solutions.
-
- Papers are invited demonstrating original unpublished research. Topics of
- interest include, but are not limited to:
-
- High-speed storage and channels
- I/O interconnection architectures
- Concurrent file systems
- Compiler support for parallel I/O
- Scheduling algorithms and heuristics
- Data and resource allocation
- Application profiling and benchmarking
- Performance of I/O subsystems
-
- SUBMITTING PAPERS: All papers will be reviewed. The first
- page must include a 100-word abstract and the name,
- address, telephone number and electronic mail address of
- the author to whom correspondence is to be sent. The
- manuscript should be at most 20 pages long (including
- figures and references). Papers will be collected into a
- proceedings and distributed at the workshop. Five copies
- of the paper should be sent to one of the two addresses
