  30. SYMPOSIUM: IPPS '93 will be held April 13-16, 1993 at the Newport Beach
  31. Marriott Hotel and Tennis Club, Newport Beach, California.  The symposium
  32. is sponsored by IEEE Computer Society and is held in cooperation with ACM
  33. SIGARCH.  IPPS '93 is a forum for engineers and scientists from around the
  34. world to present the latest research findings in all aspects of parallel
  35. and distributed processing.

  37. WORKSHOP: The workshop will be held on the first day of the symposium
  38. (April 13, 1993).  The workshop will focus on the I/O bottleneck facing
  39. parallel computer systems for many important applications such as
  40. multimedia information systems and volume visualization.  Recognition of
  41. the importance of this problem has been growing steadily, and proposed
  42. solutions include approaches based upon new hardware, architecture,
  43. systems software and algorithms.  The workshop will bring together
  44. researchers in order to foster further research on these approaches and
  45. their integration into comprehensive systems solutions.

  47. Papers are invited demonstrating original unpublished research.  Topics of
  48. interest include, but are not limited to:
  49.  
  50.     High-speed storage and channels            
  51.     I/O interconnection architectures
  52.     Concurrent file systems
  53.     Compiler support for parallel I/O            
  54.     Scheduling algorithms and heuristics
  55.     Data and resource allocation
  56.     Application profiling and benchmarking
  57.     Performance of I/O subsystems
  58.  
  59. SUBMITTING PAPERS: All papers will be reviewed.  The first
  60. page must include a 100-word abstract and the name,
  61. address, telephone number and electronic mail address of
  62. the author to whom correspondence is to be sent.  The
  63. manuscript should be at most 20 pages long (including
  64. figures and references).  Papers will be collected into a
  65. proceedings and distributed at the workshop.  Five copies
  66. of the paper should be sent to one of the two addresses
