- NEURAL NETS IN ACTION
-
- Dear Colleague,
- We invite you to participate in the Neural Nets in Action session on the final
- day of the 4th Australian Conference on Neural Networks (ACNN-93) hosted by
- the University of Melbourne, Monday 1st February to Wednesday, 3rd February
- 1993. This is the national meeting in natural and artificial neural networks
- attended by participants from academia and industry. This year, the meeting is
- being held in conjunction with the 2nd Australian Cognitive Science Conference
- (CogSci-93) and 13th Annual Meeting of the Australian Neuroscience Society.
- The Neural Nets in Action displays are open to all delegates to the above
- mentioned three conferences and the general public. We anticipate that these
- sessions will provide a focus for media attention in the reporting of our
- conference.
-
- Aim. The Neural Nets in Action sessions are outside the academic program
- of the meeting and incorporate displays from vendors, industrial practitioners
- developers, academic researchers and students. The applications considered
- range from operator guidance in continuous steelmaking, voice activated
- information systems, banking applications to a game of backgammon.
-
- We intend to demonstrate the practical use of Neural Networks as an
- emerging technology and communicate this message to potential users in
- industry, business community and the general public. It is also intended to
- create a forum where one can see practically what can and what cannot be done,
- where application "providers" can contact potential problems "solvers".
-
- Venue. The meeting will be held in the School of Architecture, The University
- of Melbourne. Displays will be held in a number of attractive rooms.
-
- Form. 1. Computer demonstration.
- 2. Video.
- 3. Poster (display).
- 4. If you have other ideas please tell us and we will try tnd.edu> o
- accommodate them.
-
- Cost: modest, charged according to the requirements for power, display
- facilities, naming rights, space.
-
- Participants: Only a limited number of display spots is available, so be
- quick in responding if you wish to participate. The list of tentative and
- confirmed displays up to date includes:
- University of Melbourne, Telecom, DSTO-Australia, BHP, Swinburne
- University of Technology, Unitronix, Network Microsystems,
- University of Queensland, National Australia Bank.
