- I'll disagree, I also know of people like Lynda. But they are few and
- far between. My experience is just like in Grad school the most important
- person in your professional life is your boss. In grad school it is called
- your advisor. If you have the right boss and I have had good ones, then you
- cna do most anything you want, and make it the right thing to be doing. If
- you don't then you have conflicts that have to be resolved. In looking for
- an AI position at several large corporations, after leading an AI group of
- 10 PHDs for 2 years and then being a VP at a neural net company for 2 years
- I was told that with my MS/CS I could be a flunky, a highly paid flunky, but
- a flunky. I of course couldn't start some research project because I didn't
- have a PHD.

- after hearing this story I didn't even want to try.
