- When I moved to Colorado from North Dakota in 1986 one of the many pieces of
- information I recieved about Colorado mentioned that this state is unique in
- that > 50% of the population are people who moved here as opposed to people
- who were born here. This is particularly true in Colorado Springs, I'm a
- little surprised whenever I meet someone who was actually born in Colorado
- Springs (as in: oh, my, how interesting). I think I know more military people
- than actual Colorado Springs natives.
-
- Another interesting population fact I heard in 1986 was that the population
- West of the Mississippi River exceeded the population East of the Mississippi
- for the first time in US history. This may have changed since then, with the
- exodus from California, unless they are mostly staying in western states. I
- know that many former Californians are moving to Oregon and Washington. A
- few CA companies have relocated to Southern Colorado, I don't know if the rest
- of Colorado is attracting much California industry.
-
- Getting back to your original point, I would not be one tiny bit surprised to
- learn that 54% of Colorado voters were born in other states. I would be
- shocked beyond words if it could be shown that they *all* voted for amendment
- 2.
