- As Randy Suess pointed out, he doesn't currently have the CLOUT/UofC root
- password, and a simple reboot wouldn't clear up the problem. The other holder
- of the access keys, Russell Rezaian, has been notified and will be down there
- sometime today to clean up the machine. With an outage of less than a day,
- no mail should be dropped, although some may be rejected if there's no spool
- space.
-
- Once the machine has recovered, we'll postmortem to figure out what happened;
- but I can pretty well promise that somebody has tried to either FTP or mail
- a huge source or something similar. This is turning out to be an ongoing
- problem, and while we prefer to administer without artificial limitations,
- if this continues we're going to have to develop some sort of "throttle".
-
- Please, folks--this is a volunteer effort with donated equipment, and our
- spool space *is* finite. If you wish to send a multi-megabyte love letter
- or somesuch, spread it out over a few days...
-
- More details as they become available...
-
- As for the notification names and numbers on the CLOUT machine itself, this
- should be there. I'm sure it will be a topic at the next Adminstrators'
- meeting.
-
- Cheers,
