- Come on, Rich, you know me better than that. And you know about
- both Reagan and Quayle better than that, too. I think I am still
- capable of separating political philosophy from personal psychology.
- And I am certainly not parrotting "the media".
-
- Reagan's handlers controlled access to him so well that no reporter
- dared speak ill of him, lest that reporter be banished from any
- information at all. The media were most kind to Reagan--or did
- you wonder how the "teflon" moniker came to be associated with him?
-
- Reagan was out of touch, in a fantasy world of his own, or so say
- most biographers and researchers. The good news was that he delegated
- so well that this had a minimal effect; the bad news is that he
- delegated to a cabinet that ranks as one of the most corrupt in
- American history.
-
- As for Quayle, hey, if it were once or twice, or only 10 or 20
- times even, sure, if rhetorical ability were the only standard
- Jesse Jackson would be Vice-President. But you have to wonder about
- a lawyer who can't spell at the 5th grade level. Can such a
- person discharge the duties of VP? Maybe. Is he the best Bush
- could come up with? Well, that says a lot about Bush.
