- The CF-18's (Canadian version of the F-18) were from Goose Bay, Labrador.
- They tracked the plane for awhile, then had to return to base to refuel.
- For two hours, the drug plane was completely lost. It was flying below
- radar, so it was untraceable. When the CF-18's were airborne again, they
- simply flew by every airfield and made a visual check for the plane.
-
- Residents did not become suspicious of the alleged drug runners until
- they saw two CF-18's buzz their local runway. So it was the luck of one
- of the fighter pilots that found the drug runners, not the local residents.
- In fact, one of the local residents was actually haelping the drug runners.
- He gave them a ride in his truck. (He was interviewed on "As It Happens"
- on CBC radio) Apparently the drug runners tried to steal his truck
- when the CF-18's began circling the runway.
