  28. The CF-18's (Canadian version of the F-18) were from Goose Bay, Labrador.
  29. They tracked the plane for awhile, then had to return to base to refuel.
  30. For two hours, the drug plane was completely lost.  It was flying below
  31. radar, so it was untraceable.  When the CF-18's were airborne again, they
  32. simply flew by every airfield and made a visual check for the plane.

  34. Residents did not become suspicious of the alleged drug runners until
  35. they saw two CF-18's buzz their local runway.  So it was the luck of one
  36. of the fighter pilots that found the drug runners, not the local residents.
  37. In fact, one of the local residents was actually haelping the drug runners.
  38. He gave them a ride in his truck.  (He was interviewed on "As It Happens"
  39. on CBC radio)  Apparently the drug runners tried to steal his truck
  40. when the CF-18's began circling the runway.
