- I have a two week old daughter who will need day care in the near
- future. Unfortunately, before she was born, I found a place I
- felt very comfortable with; I got the standard response when I
- asked about my position on the waiting list--I'd have to wait
- until she was born to see what my 'real' chances at getting a spot
- were. I was rather complacent with that answer and stopped my
- investigations. Well, now she's here and I've been told her chances are slim
- to get in my top choice. I've visited a couple of other places and am
- on wait lists there--but I really do not feel good about them.
- One was a low cost place, the other a very high cost place.
- I don't want to slander places based on gut feeling, but if
- you write me I'll share my experiences.
-
- I do not care about cost (within reason of course, less than my
- software salary!) but I do care about caring. I've heard that
- Motorola, IBM and others are starting a day care initiative, but
- it comes too late for my daughter presently. It's so tough...all
- the good places are full, it seems! Even though I started early
- (four months pregnant) I still find myself in a bind.
