- The new series of products has just been officially released in Australia.
- The machines that we are interested in are the lower end SparcStation LX
- and Sparc Classic. It seems that both are claimed to run at 59.1 MIPS. The
- main differences are:
-
- o ISDN support
- o CD quality audio (single channel?)
- o Graphics accelerator
- o Classic is about half the price of the LX
-
- If we're not doing graphics work and already have a file server, why would we
- consider buying an LX over a Classic (given that the claimed MIPs rating is
- the same)?
-
- The Sparc2 is rated at 28 MIPs according to the Sun propaganda sheets we have.
- This being the case, why would anyone buy a Sparc2 now instead of an LX?
