  15. I am posting this now so that those about to disappear for their summer
  16. vacation won't miss out when "PAX - Public Access Unix" in Adelaide,
  17. South Australia, comes on line in 2nd or 3rd week of December. The goal
  18. of this system is to provide access to the joys(!) of unix, email, and
  19. usenet for those who can't normally afford it, can't convince anyone to
  20. give it to them, or are about to loose it when they graduate or go home
  21. for vacation, or change jobs or locations.

  23. The phone number will be 235-9010 with 4 lines up to V32bis.

  25. The system offers:

  27.  - email and a full news feed (in the Australian sense of the word full)
  28.  - source archives on a 6 CDROM multichanger and more on hard disk
  29.  - full Unix shell access for all users (SunOS 4.1.2 on a Sparcstation 1)
  30.  - as many shells, mail & news readers, compilers, etc. as you care to ask for
  31.  - anonymous & privacy enhanced email & posting
  32.  - access for a flat monthly fee with no connection time charges or limits
  33.  - online registration by credit card
  34.  - slip or ppp connections can be arranged
  35.  
  36. Unfortunately it doesn't offer tcpip access to AARNet (yet) due to the high
  37. cost of this option, but the usual archie-by-mail and ftp-by-mail options
  38. available to any email user are present.
