- I have a wolf-hybrid (no flames please) and a mutt that are regular members
- of our family. About 8 months ago, they contracted Cocxydia (sp?) a micro-
- scopic parasite that attacks the intestinal system. This is a variant of the
- same micororganizm that almost wiped out the black-footed ferret population,
- I believe... Anyways, the dogs have been treated with antibiotics and sulfur
- drugs, Primor 120 and Sulfatrim SS to mention a couple of them, to help them
- kick the parasitic infection.
-
- The mutt built up an immunity ot the Cocxydia and is now healthy and fine.
- The wolf, on the other hand, has suffered since the onset, and although the
- Sulfatrim SS does an excellent job of curbing the spread of the microorganizm,
- it does not offer a long term cure since the wolf can't seem to build up an
- immunity like the mutt could. As near as we can tell the infection came from
- a tangle with some geese that a neighbor had.
-
- The sulfatrim ss tabs keep the wolf reasonably healthy and happy, but I am
- looking for a solution to the problem altogether. I have checked with two
- vets locally, and they are having difficulties with the treatment. Has anyone
- out there, experienced this problem with their wolf hybrid or dog and/or knows
- something more about this microorganizm that would help me find a solution?
-
-
- Thank you for your help.
