- One important thing to remember is that the transsexuals and other
- transgendered people you hear about tend to be a self-selected group. It
- takes a certain level of awareness and intelligence to realize that most
- of what our society(ies) mandates about sex and gender is pure bullshit.
- It just doesn't apply to us at all (for that matter, a significant amount
- of it doesn't really apply to 90% of the general population, IMHO). It
- takes no small amount of courage to come out far enough to ask for help,
- and allow interviews and such to be published, even if done anonymously.
