- The above is excellent advice for people getting into modelling
- (or for people who just want to look like a model). Unfortunately
- there are still people who think that tans are desirable and make
- a person look "healthy", and I despair when I see models like
- Christy Turlington with obviously bronzed skin (but
- then again when she gets old enough for the damage to show, she'll
- probably be a billionaire - and with that bone structure she'll
- probably never have sagging skin). Victor, you'll probably know, but
- the models who look tanned in photographs, is that usually makeup?
- I don't think their agents would tolerate their models (or should
- I say their bread and butter) having damaged skin.
-
- Anyway, as a person who has tried to cultivate her pale skin very
- carefully, I still get people telling me I should get a tan -
- which is very annoying. I just wish I knew when I was young that sun
- damage doesn't wholly show up right away because then I would
- have protected myself earlier. Tell your models that the
- sun burn they get today will show up years later as deep crevices,
- sagging and bagging of the skin which can only be rectified through
- cosmetic surgery (yuck). And unlike Coco Chanel, I think that
- today, untanned skin is again a mark of the priviledged class!(hee-he)
