- $The wonderful thing about listening to thEwIndBag is that you can tune in
- $at any time, for any period of time and get *something* that will make you
- $wonder if his elevator goes all the way to the top floor.
-
- Hey, he's only on for three hours where I am.
-
- $For example, Tuesday I caught just a snippet of his act wherein he repeated
- $his oft-spoken belief that people should not cluster in groups to demand
- $that rights (his words, mine would be 'equality of rights') be accorded
- $those groups. thEwIndBag's contention is that people should remain as
- $individuals and succeed or fail through individual efforts.
- $
- $Ahem.
- $
- $This is exactly what one would expect from a white male, someone who has to
- ***************************************
- $have described to him what it's like to be discriminated against *as a
- $group,* else he'd never have a clue. The reason for folks to band together
- $by gender, or by color, or by sexual orientation to ask for equality of
- $rights is precisely because they are denied that equality simply on the
- $basis of those things that bring them together as a group.
-
- You don't get any sympathy from me if you and your associates get
- together and practically curse someone for being a white male for
- thinking the opposite stance. You get no sympathy from me if you think
- HE doesn't "understand" discrimination because he's a white male, or he
- doesn't understand the poor because he's rich, or he doesn't understand
- the abortion issue because he's not a female. You start alienating
- people for not "understanding" your position based on their ethnic
- background, sex or sexual orientation, then you are no better in the
- demand for rights than your opposition who you claim is denying you
- those rights.
-
- White males don't have free rides to success. Rush is definitely
- discriminated against; perhaps not because he's white, or because he's
- fat (rotund), or because he's male, but because he's a CONSERVATIVE. Now
- you don't hear me call for all conservatives to band together and
- demand that our rights be given to us by blaming all our problems on
- white female liberal homosexuals (e.g.), do you? I'm sure you don't give
- a damn about the obstacles he had to overcome in order to produce his
- radio program, his TV program, or his book because he's one of those
- "white males" whose behavior you can predict and describe so easily.
-
- $One would only expect a white male like thEwIndBag to encourge people not
- $to band together to cure what they see as injustice against them. Simply
- $because he knows that, as individuals, they are as powerless as they ever
- $were and that only by working together can they ever hope to right some of
- $society's injustices toward them.
-
- Individuals are not powerless. They become more powerful when they join
- together in a common cause and common understanding, but individuals are
- not powerless. One person makes a difference in many people's lives;
- don't you remember Clinton's grandfather story? One person can change
- the world: don't you remember Mother Theresa or Mohandas Gandhi or
- Martin Luther King, Jr., or Jesus Christ? Banding together and marching
- up and down the streets of your cities brings awareness of the problem,
- but the solution of the problem depends on people, individuals who will
- devote their lives to making other people better. Scaring the hell out
- of people or insulting them is no way to get your point across to
- others. Cries for "no justice, no peace" is not going to make justice
- come any more quickly for you or your group.
