  26. Don't scream until you have all the facts.  Global warming is
  27. indeed occurring.  The question is "Why?"  Some people say 
  28. that it is because of industrial pollution and other human-
  29. related factors.  Others (myself included) simply state that
  30. the world exited the last Ice Age only 18,000 years ago and
  31. the average temperature in 1990 was still 11 degrees BELOW 
  32. the average temperature for the last billion years.  This 
  33. seems to indicate that the temperature on Earth fluctuates
  34. wildly.  If you chart out these average temps, you can see that
  35. we are coming out of a deep valley that represents the last
  36. Ice Age.

  38. I can testify to the alarming rate of the buildup of greenhouse 
  39. gases in the atmosphere, which is something that should be 
  40. controlled.  If we don't care about nature, let's at least 
  41. take care of ourselves.  A study showed that three out of
  42. four young men in LA had unnatural growths in their lungs.

  44. Also, Global Warming and the thinning of the ozone layer 
  45. are not necessarily connected.  The ozone layer traps 
  46. ultraviolet radiation, not infrared, and wouldn't keep heat
  47. in (Greenhouse Effect).  Also, if you compare the levels
  48. of ozone in the late '70s to today, you would see that 
  49. ozone thinning is happening.  Why? Nobody knows.  CFC's
  50. is a good place to start.

  52. What really needs to happen is some major funding for 
  53. programs to study these problems to really determine what 
  54. is going on.  Then we can figure out what we are gonna do
  55. about it(if we can do anything).
