- In a Reader Digest story a couple of months ago, they also said that
- that there were 10 times as many spotted owls as the environmentalists
- claimed. In addition, the report also said that the owls have been
- doing very well in new forests (environmentalists have claimed that the
- owl can only live in old forests). They also said that over 100,000
- jobs have lost to this controversy. This is ridiculous!! Giving more
- rights to a stupid bird than human beings - just another case of wackos
- elevating an animal above the level of a human.
- And these same people complain about the unemployment rate. Let's give
- these people there jobs back - if the owl becomes extinct - so be it.
- IMO, the bird will not go extinct if taken off the endangered species
- list.

- (I can't remember if this was a study commissioned by Reader's Digest or
- was done by an outside group ; it really doesn't matter)
