- YOu're right, the soundtrack left out one of the best parts of the movie, you
- see, all of the blues you hear, with the exception of the song played at the
- very beginning of the movie was played by Ry Cooder, a mostly session man with
- a few noteworthy albums. The soundtrack released only features his
- contributions, I'm not sure if it contains the original Robert Johnson
- "Crossroad Blues" that you hear in the beginning. Anyway the rest is all ry
- cooder. It's interesting that Ralph Machio does actually play everything you
- see him play except maybe the guitar duel. He supposedly took lessons for the
- movie. I suspect that Vai had a recording contract that prevented his presence
- on the album.
