  10. YOu're right, the soundtrack left out one of the best parts of the movie, you
  11. see, all of the blues you hear, with the exception of the song played at the
  12. very beginning of the movie was played by Ry Cooder, a mostly session man with
  13. a few noteworthy albums.  The soundtrack released only features his
  14. contributions, I'm not sure if it contains the original Robert Johnson
  15. "Crossroad Blues" that you hear in the beginning.  Anyway the rest is all ry
  16. cooder.  It's interesting that Ralph Machio does actually play everything you
  17. see him play except maybe the guitar duel.  He supposedly took lessons for the
  18. movie.  I suspect that Vai had a recording contract that prevented his presence
  19. on the album.
