- I agree completely. I thought the Future Games and the album that proceeded
- it when Welch first joined FM were very good. In fact musically I thought
- they were a reasonable transition from the sound FM had on Kiln House, which
- was already moving away from the more blues/rock sound they'd had previously.
- I can't say I liked Mystery To Me much however. It had some interesting points
- but the band was clearly beginning to lack a musical identity, which may be
- why most people discount this period in the band's history. But I still have
- those albums and I still like them. I don't think Welch had the talent of
- Mac's early or later guitarists, but he fit in well with what they were doing
- at the time and did contribute a lot in terms of songwriting.
-
- By the way, does anyone know what Bob Welch is doing these days?
