  18. NOT! Don't get me wrong. I love the Cure, but defining goth? I think not.
  19. Dark videos, mopy lyrics, and black clothes do not a goth band make.
  20. I can define goth in 2 words: Joy Division. And if you need some further
  21. references to go along with it...I'd suggest Bauhaus and the Sisters of Mercy.

  24. As far as influence goes Roxy Music has to be way up on the list. Just
  25. take a look through the Roxy video history and check out where some of the
  26. early 80s most succesful MTV bands got there ideas. (ABC, Adam Ant, Duran Duran,
  27. etc.) Remember, thats where Eno got his start as a musician, so you can
  28. indirectly map all the people he's worked with, including Talking Heads,
  29. DEVO, and U2 back to Roxy.
