  12. Well homies, it's been a whole year and it's time for the Second
  13. Annual New Jack Hip Hop Awards.  For those of you who don't remember,
  14. here's a quick history lesson:

  16. Over a year ago, folks on alt.rap were pissed because somebody booty
  17. won a Grammy for Best Rap Artist and we all decided that Rap needed
  18. its own awards show.  Being in the midst of avoiding doing thesis
  19. work, I decided to run one.
  20.  
  21. Here's how it works.  From Nov to Dec, we decide on the categories for
  22. the awards show.  From Dec to Jan, folks get to nominate those they
  23. wish.  The top four or five make it onto the ballot and from Jan to
  24. Feb we vote.
  25.  
  26. Well, it's Nov 14 again.  So it's time to figure out the categories.
  27. To help out, here's the list of categories from the 1991 awards with a
  28. little explanation where needed.  Please post and send me mail if you
  29. have some ideas.  Also, if you want to help in the counting, please
  30. let me know.

  43. The Annual New Jack Hip Hop Awards is a forum for true Hip Hop
  44. Activists to express their picks for the best and the brightest in rap
  45. and hip hop.  No more, no less.  The following is a description of the
  46. categories.

  87.   Bohemian rap is best described by its members.  Groups like De La
  88.   Soul, A Tribe Called Quest (and in fact the whole Native Tongue
  89.   Family), as well as PM Dawn and the like fall into this class.  I
  90.   can't do much better.  Try looking up "bohemian" in the dictionary.
