- : You suggested that Barb drop this thread. Why don't you take your own
- : advice? Or is it that you want her to drop it so that you can continue to
- : flame her without rebuttal?
-
- Mike, assuming that I have ever "flamed" anyone, have I ever
- been anything other than rational, respectful and considerate of
- Barbara. However, I do have to speak when my conscience says to. Even
- if the entire world was against me (and you and Barbara are not the
- entire world...), I wouldn't let people like you daunt me into shutting
- up and going with the popular opinion.
-
- Out of curiosity, please respond to this: what makes you think that i
- have "flamed" her? I'd be interested in knowing. My only point here is
- that no one person can monitor the net and decide if "we the net" will
- forgive people who offend...
-
- What makes you think I believe myself to be the "net-god"? Have I said
- anything that resembles an exclamatory statement? To tell you the
- truth, I find terms like "net-god", or "flame" painfully pubescent;
- however, I haven't "flamed" you for using such terms. Quite
- frankly, I think the people here who've had the pleasure of being on
- boards like Metal Shop, Atlantis, Stronghold east and west, OSUNNY will
- know what I mean.... However, you have a right to your opinions, and I
- realize that.
-
- I have trouble with arrogance as I said in a letter to Barbara (but
- was bounced back). Arrogance makes me want to push back just as
- hard as it was pushed.
-
-
- Please don't say that I flame people. I really don't. Even after your
- less than friendly message, take note that I haven't called you a dick
- head or challanged your manhood for kissing up to a female. Everyone is
- equal, and we have to respect each other's right to different opinions.
-
- HOWEVER: and this is the most important point of all: We have to be
- VERY VERY careful in not putting our own values on someone else. That
- is how this whole thread started. I actually agree with her on every
- point she made about Hassan. It was the judgement sentance that said
- "we'll be watching you for improvement" that I and some other people
- objected to, (also name calling on everyone's part was uncalled for).
-
- Perhaps the problem here is that the argument is cyclic. I say that we
- have to respect everone's opinions, and not judge them by it. Then I go
- and say I thought it was wrong for her to pass judgement on Hassan and
- declare that he was now under supervision for some improvement of
- character after he put forward (I thought) a good apology. If that's
- your argument against me, I really don't have an answer for you, I'm
- sorry. I guess it's a philosophical question
