  18. Back before the concept of "mantra" was popular, I
  19. had a driving instructor in highschool who had a
  20. "mantra" - it's one of the two things I remember 
  21. from the class(*).  His mantra was:
  22. "Signal your *intentions*, not your *actions*"

  24. ] Peeve:  Left turning drivers (with or without signals) who
  25. ] think they have the right of way over drivers going straight.
  26. ] Especially prevelant in New Hampshire.

  28. Happens here in CA also.  Was walking across the
  29. crosswalk on the way home a couple of nights ago,
  30. with the green "walk" symbol, and a guy who was
  31. making a left turn onto the street I was crossing
  32. from behind me SUDDENLY decides to beat the traffic
  33. we were both facing - thus not ONLY almost running
  34. me down, but missing getting hit by the cross-traffic
  35. by inches.

  37. Major peeves would have abounded because given the
  38. speed and trajectory of the two vehicles, they BOTH
  39. would have wound up hitting me in the crosswalk.

  41. !peeve - I saw it in time to jump back and avoid
  42. getting hit - and the guy squeaked by the cross-traffic.

  44. Peeve:  He's still alive and driving - and possibly
  45. adding to the BDID gene-pool.
