  26. Whoever designed the signs apparently fell victim to the current buzzword
  27. mentality that afflicts much of the nation.  Because of the expression's
  28. overuse in the media, people lost their ability to think of the expression
  29. "smoking area" without the prefix "designated."  The same thing happened
  30. back in the Seventies with "viable alternative."  (Translation: "alternative.")

  32. Something that's always mystified me are those signs that say, "Posted - No
  33. Trespassing."  I don't know about the rest of you, but "No Trespassing" pretty
  34. much says it all for me.  Unless it has some addition meaning that I'm not
  35. aware of, all the word "posting" adds is a notification that somebody put
  36. (i.e., "posted" the sign there).  So the end result is a sign that means,
  37. "Somebody Put This Sign Here - Keep Out."  Which is silly, because I can
  38. *see* that somebody put the sign there!
