- Hmmm, doesn't bother me. No, it's not the most accurate word in the
- world but who cares? BTW, none of this is meant as flame or flame
- fodder.

-
- On the contrary, fear and discomfort dealing with gays does seem to
- have a large component of fear in it. Young bucks who worry that
- they may really be gay gang up bravely to beat up lone (or smaller numbers
- of) gay men. Often, the victim survives; sometimes he does not.

- Oh oh, the dreaded PC label rears its ugly head. Well my man, there
- are all kinds of Political Correctness. If I post a politically
- unpopular opinion in talk.politics.guns, even if it doesn't favor
- additional controls but only maintaining the status quo, I get toasted.
- Even a little thing like calling a Colt .45 semi-auto an "automatic"
- could get me in trouble, despite the fact that an NRA safety manual I
- have from 20-30 years ago uses that term. That's PC for ya.
-
- Over in ca.politics, a loonie has been haranguing gays for over a year
- now, cross-posting articles from soc.motss to prove that gays are
- depraved, damning any who refuse to condemn NAMBLA. That's PC.
-
- Now, I don't really worry about whether I'm using this year's term for
- a minority, agonize over whether Blacks are Blacks this year or Afro-
- Americans. But I do take people to task for assuming that all Blacks
- are criminals, Asians can't drive, gays are out to recruit our youth.
- You and I don't need to worry about gay-bashers, so it's a theoretical
- issue to us; for some friends of mine, it's a mite more serious than that:
- a friend back in Buffalo, who'd lose his job if he came out; friends out
- here in San Francisco who've been bashed...

-
- Humorless? I made a comment about gays redecorating Peevetown , which
- Nev didn't start raving about; instead, he made a funny reply, conforming
- to the style of this group. I once told a friend who I know to be gay
- that the problem with this area was that there were too many of them here;
- he didn't get pissed, he just laughed and made a comment about obnoxious
- straights. But people who want to restrict gays' ability to get jobs or
- housing, or who really pick on gays, THEM I have a problem with.
