- Gee, what a compliment for this guy. And that in alt.peeves.

-
- Could be.
-
- Peeve: All the semantic somersaults that the English language does with `fuck',
- `penis' etc. Need I remind a *peeve* earlier on? (Yeah, it was fun to write.
- Et alors?)
-
- Large Peeve: Somebody mentioning the word `art' in the wrong place. Go back
- and read the fucking post. Da.
-
- So first the foreigner's disclaimer who has to care about not upsetting local
- customs. They use them the way they want and that's perfectly right. But heck,
- this is alt.peeves and peeve it will be. And as long as England stays in the
- EC...
-
- Peeve is that it messes everything up. Especially bad as the topic is often
- emotions and passions. So after banging my head two or three times the words
- started finding entrance into that reductionist mental filter they call the
- linearizer (fuck is fuck or background noise). It's an understanding problem.
- If you call too much things one word it looses all meaning. Or you turn crazy
- because you put too much and/or wrong meanings into it. There are just so many
- things left after that filter. And it takes the fog out.
-
- ClassicalAntiPeeve: Phoning Peeves. And I just hope for lots of adventure
- game problems in the near future.
-
- : Daughter Peeve: Mike mentioned that I have about 15 years to figure out
- : what to do if my daughter brings to dinner her boyfriend - a spotty
- : bespectacled youth with a Megadeth T-shirt and a hip calculator.
- :
- : Frightening.
-
- Woman.
-
- : But it could be worse - what if he's a Hawkwind fan?
-
- Either get the rooms isolated or invest into earplug manufacturers. And who
- knows? If he's the weird sort he'll end up making you enjoy it.
-
- InTuition: Keeping the calculator for `fuck' at hand.
-
- Yours boringly,
- Serge
-
- PsPeeve: Having to dig into yer juvenile readings to make yerself understood.
- I'd very much prefer to put different stuff there.
