- Ever wonder why that's never been done? The system has evolved into allowing
- those with the lowest common denominator of driver intelligence (heh) to be
- licensed in order to maximize the number of drivers (more drivers = more money).
-
- That way, only those who are so inept as to keep failing the tests are
- kept off the road. If we reduced the number of drivers by only half,
- then the state would have less revenue from licensing and DEQ operations,
- less gas would be sold, fewer mechanics would be needed, dealerships
- wouldn't make any money, and automakers would go into a tailspin. However,
- I do agree with you -- it's just that the Forces That Be aren't going to
- allow such radical changes.
-
- Still, I wonder how hard it would be to instill basic concepts into Driver's
- Ed. courses and such -- things such as moving over to the right to allow
- others to pass. If even that one thing could be drummed into their little
- skulls, it would make driving that much more pleasant.

- Even today you can have fun if you've got a cop riding with you (see previous
- antipeeve).
