- I have several acquaintances who're private or commercial pilots and have been
- discussing with them the idea of my getting a pilot's license. After studying
- the requirements, I've concluded that a program to train and certify motor
- vehicle operators which paralleled the program to train and certify private
- pilots would have several benefits. First it would increase the skill level of
- the average driver (average of the drivers remaining after the shakeout, that
- is). Second it would reduce the number of motor vehicle operators on the road.
- Third, as a result of second, road maintenance would cost less as there'd be
- less of it to do. Fourth, since I'd qualify to drive (heh) I'd have much more
- fun on the road than I now do.
