- Maybe that is what I'm reacting to -- the fact that I KNOW I could kill
- someone should they confront me or my family. I don't have any doubt that
- I'd pull the trigger. It's more a matter of how I'd feel afterwards.

- The tool argument is getting old. How many drive-by axe murders happen on
- California freeways? How many four year old kids kill their parents with
- an axe? How many times have axes been employed in liquor store or bank
- robberies? It's a fallacious argument and you know it. Being able to kill
- someone at a distance, with no substantial effort or danger to the gun
- wielder, make them quite different than an axe. Also, handguns are easily
- concealed, and don't require the skill and strength of a bow and arrow or
- axe.
-
- I don't know why there is always such a vociferous reaction on the part of
- gun owners to any mention of this topic. A little sensitive? Nothing in
- either Ashley's or my post talked about abolition of handguns, only tighter
- controls over their distribution. In Ashley's case, she was only bemoaning
- the _need_ for owning it in the first place, which I heartily agreed with.
