- I think discussion -- and action -- on this point are entirely appropriate.
- I grew up in Alabama in the 1960s, and much of the pressure that changed
- racist laws there came from concerned people living elsewhere in the
- country. Often, these people were motivated by religious conviction
- (mostly Christian). Acting from one's religious convictions is not the
- same thing as attempting to impose a theocracy.

- The issue of anti-gay bigotry certainly seems to me to be relevant to
- practitioners of religions that say "an it harm none, do as you will,"
- and "all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals".
