  13.     Tagi asked me to post AB's kundalini techniques.  Well, first off,
  14. in true Theosophical form, she discouraged premature awakening of the force.
  15. Exactly when would be appropriate, I don't know, but Theosophists seem to be
  16. incredibly patient.  Which I am not.

  18.     IF she ever explained how we're supposed to get the big bad serpent 
  19. up and running, I haven't found it.  Then again, I have vague references to
  20. about seven of her books, none of which promise to be light reading.  However,
  21. I HAVE found many admonitions not to do various things, like use the power 
  22. with any degree of self-interest, attempt to waken it "prematurely," focus
  23. on one particular chakra in meditation, etc.

  25.     Z. Landsdowne wrote an interesting little compliation of AB's work 
  26. on the topic, which I find roughly as useful as the Manhattan phone book when
  27. it comes to awakening the serpent power.  Doubtless you are all now laughing  
  28.  up your sleeves.  "The little misadept, unpurified, uncompassionate carnivore
  29. occultaster!  Obviously the intentional blinds have befuddled the unworthy 
  30. one slavering outside the precincts of the sacred ashram!"  Right on, baby.
  31. Unworthy and slavering, that's me.  Especially before my morning caffeine.

  33.     Sigh.  It's enough to make one go back to the Middle Pillar, or else
  34. to crack open Avalon's _Serpent_Power_ and starting poking oneself in the
  35. tummy.  But before we leave the topic, what the hell HAVE I found that's
  36. worth posting?

  38.     Well, there are these webs between the chakras that prevent the vril/
  39. od/prana/chi from flowing.  Otherwise we might get clairvoyant before we've
  40. reached the Forty-Ninth Evolution of the Root-Race past Atlantis with a
  41. full Svastika Spiral on the Past Hemi-Incarnation.  Goodness knows we wouldn't
  42. want THAT.

  44.     These webs are slowly, slowly loosened by purity and strict abstinence
  45. from naughty thoughts -- except by folks like Crowley, who pierce the webs
  46. and drown in their own adrenachrome and bad karma.  But we know better than 
  47. they do, don't we, class?  Yes we DO.

  49.     Chakras can be opened or developed:  these are different processes.
  50. Landsdowne defines a lot of spare terms without explaining any observable
  51. difference.  At this point Rick goes back to Thermodynamics and lets his
  52. chakras take care of themselves.

  54.     Probably the best book to check out is _Esoteric_Healing_, by Bailey.
  55. Other titles might be _The Rays and their Initiations_, _Initiation_Human_&
  56. _Solar_, etc.  All by Alice Bailey.  Enjoy.  Tell me if any of it makes sense
  57. before you start snoring from that inimitable Theosophic prose ... mellow
  58. as opium-raving, but not quite as lucid ...

  60.     All seriousness aside, the Theosophists are lovely people, and I'm
  61. sure their work is useful to people less crass and self-serving than myself...
  62. but I still don't think I'm going to renew my membership...

  64.     If any of you have made sense of kundalini systems, I would love to 
  65. hear about it.  Even if I have to get humble and work hard.
