  11. First off, I am relatively new to this group and read it more to indulge
  12. my curiosity, than out of a desire to practice magic.

  14. I realise that there must be some debate about about whether it 'proper'
  15. to divulge 'secrets of the trade' to the public or the net. 
  16. Nevertheless I am going to ask how a card trick I saw recently was done.
  17.  
  18. The trick is as follows:

  20. The magician/whomever takes a pack of cards, unmarked from what I could
  21. gather.  He selects a volunteer/victim and places two cards, red an
  22. black, face in front of him/her.
  23.  
  24. The magician then proceeds to pick cards one by one from various
  25. positions in the deck, each time holding it in front of the volunteer/victim,
  26. asking him/her to guess whether the card is red or black, and places it face
  27. down on top of red/black cards selected earlier depending on the colour.  
  28. Only the magician sees actual colour of the cards.

  30. After so many cards have been placed in each pile, the magician turns
  31. over both piles to reveal, to the volunteer/victims surprise, that he/she
  32. has guessed the colour of the cards with 100% accuracy.

  35. I would be grateful if anybody could enlighten me as to how the trick is
  36. performed.  Hints will be accepted happily too :-)
