- No its NOT! Its a very bad idea. It has been said before, but this
- would mean people will run more and more hacked clients which
- fake the username. It also means, I could EASILY put up a user@host
- pair for any arbitrary address, and thus succesfully locking that
- person out of irc. Then we'll get the same shit with user/host
- that we now have with nicknames.
- *luser* can you please kill n3tl0ser, he's using my address.
-
- And not ALL bots are bad..I myself run kickserv, which plays as a UNO
- host, and ive gotten real good responses on it. If that idea would
- be inplemented..it'd mean I couldnt run the bot (and this is just
- a personal example, im sure dozens of other people are in the same position)
- cause im not in the position to create an account for it legally.

- Well, too bad not everyone is the expert you are. I mean, if everyone
- would be a master in REAL programming languages like you.....
- Get real! Everyone who starts making bots on irc will do that in
- scriptlanguage. Cause its easy..and will do exactly what they want it to.
- Make them channel-op bots. I agree all those bots are lame, and I
- wouldnt miss 90% of them, but a LOT of poeople on irc arent coders.
- My first bot was an irc-script too. And it was lame as hell.
- kickserv is 80K C source. Maybe some of the current script-bot owners
- will later make really cool and helpful robots. I dont mind them
- playing around in the meanwhile. Too bad some dont know the difference
- between playing and being obnoxious tho.

-
- I think most people agree that something needs to be done..but thats
- more easily said then done. I think there currently is just no
- way to handle this problem succesfully.
- Until there IS a way..which I dont see shortly, I just ignore all the
- bots I dont like. Maybe you could do the same. Its real easy to avoid
- half the clueless bot..just dont join #botsex or #bottub :*)
