  18. I should certainly hope so. That's what releasing new versions is all about -
  19. making each better than the old one. At least ircII has kept true to this
  20. aim.

  22. Anyway, the reason ircII has a chance to improve in pre8 and beyond is
  23. that I have always encorouged participation in the development by others,
  24. and even created a mailing list on which they *could* share ideas.
  25. (That is, a mailing list for developers only). I only ever rejected
  26. a submission once, from memory, and that was because it came in a single
  27. patch that contained more modifications that were applicable only
  28. to that one site than were applicable to the rest of the userbase.
  29. If the portion that was applicable to the rest of the userbase had
  30. been submitted separately, I would have accepted it.

  32. On the other hand, you feel so threatened by others that you have
  33. actively discouraged others from participating. You're so scared
  34. shitless by the thought that others might have found problems
  35. in your code or be able to fix something you overlooked or couldn't
  36. fix that you have rejected patches that fix genuine bugs (and do nothing
  37. other than fix genuine bugs). In fact, if you hadn't been so busy
  38. defending an ego which was inflated to bursting point, ircd might
  39. be in far better shape  than it is today.
