- Yeah, I know it is *that* easy to fake a user@host, but how many people who
- have the *most* annoying, disruptive, and wasteful bots are actually going
- to know how to do this?
-
- Also (and I admit ignorance in this point) when you telnet to a port 6667,
- aren't you running "raw" irc. That is, without a client. Does that
- eliminate all these IRCII bots? Or not? I have no clue as my skool has no
- UNIX.
-
- As for the second point, the one about crackers: that is going to be true
- no matter what the hell we do. As long as there are limits and security
- measures, there will be crackers.
-
- The problem I am addressing here is annoying and wasteful bots, not people
- who hack into IRC with fake names. Hell, as long as there is Bradenville,
- Chatsubo, and that one in Austria, there are always going to be ways to get
- into IRC without a real ID.
-
- Why not make running two processes on IRC at one time a /killable offense?
- There are enuff IRCops around that they would notice the lamer bots, and
- /kill 'em.
