- Speaking of sticking to the thread...does anyone recall
- the original message and the suggestion that has been
- totally forgotten <I do...but maybe that is because I
- orginated it>
-
- It does have something to do with "Attitudes" I suggested
- that after meeting a person who created a "warbot" that
- such mentality might be more appropriate for a place that
- was meant for more of this type of entertainment such
- as some muds. And that bots that allowed for creative
- expression and did not take away from the computer
- mediated communication for IRC should be allowed, tolerated,
- created, <whatever other verb you may use to say accepted>.
-
- I do agree that I don't want my communication interupted...
- nor would I want something I created to interupt someone's
- communication. Maybe this means that bots should only
- speak when spoken to? Or that those AI that like to be chatty
- should be on channel's for people who want to visit with them.
-
- About "owning" the channels...Titus maybe bots are a reflection
- of the creator wanting "squatter's rights" to a channel.
- <totally off the topic, myself>
- The question of "owning" also comes into play with "nicks"
- I have seen IRCops say..."No one owns a nick" Yet there is
- registration of nicks. I have only seen registration used
- with things that people own such as cars and guns. Is there
- a registration precident for things that are not owned? If
- not are we actually doing a diservice and giving a false
- impression to people by allowing them to register their
- nicks? As a person who loves to create nicks...and ircnames
- I consider these part of me...almost in need of copyright.
- And I truly resent people using my nicks to parade as me
- <least amount of damage> or to get people to give out secrets
- <most amount of damage>. I do not however mind giving access
- to those who just plain want to use the nick without having
- knowledge that it belongs to me.
-
- <ugh> I am being wordy...guess I just miss you all <waves>
