- I am a newcomer to the area of hypnosis, and wanted to share my experiences
- in the hopes of getting a better "experience."
-
- My first contact with a hypnotist was about two years ago, during a show put
- on by my dorm. At that time a purchased a self hypnosis tape that the guy
- had made.
-
- When the guy was actually doing the show, he picked a number of people out
- of the audience. I didn't want to go up, but I wanted to try to be hypnotized.
- I was sitting up against a pool table on a hard floor, and didn't expect much
- to happen, but to my surprize, I felt myself starting to go under.
-
- I felt my eyes starting to roll back in my head, and was very relaxed. The
- guy started to count backwards from 10 to 1, saying tha we were going to
- be in a trance when he got to one. Well, he got to 8, and I felt my eyes
- all of the sudden go WAY back in my dead (to the point that it hurt). I
- thought to myself that I was going under too quickly, so I tried slowing
- the process down. That was my mistake--I immediately came out of the trance
- that I was in and could not recover.
-
- The next day, I played the tape, and immediately went under again. (I must
- be really suseptible to hypnosis.) When I came out, I was very relaxed,
- my skin had actually gotten cold and clammy, and my eyes HURT (because
- they were trying to look out the back of my head, it seems). The hurt for
- remainder of the day.
-
- Since then, I kind of ignored the topic of hypnosis, until I saw this new
- group. Tonight I saw Sunil Gupta's posting of a hypnosis tutorial, and
- grabbed it up.
-
- I also have an Amiga, so I loaded it into my word processor, and had it
- read the post to me. I was under when the thing was counting backwards
- to get more relaxed--way before the post was supposed to brint you under.
-
- My eyes rolled back in my head (and they still hurt!), my skin got cold
- and clammy--the whole 9 yards.
-
- My question is this: Is there a way to avoid the pain? I don't really
- enjoy the headaches afterwords, but love the relaxation that hypnosis
- provides. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Any other tips are, of
- course, also welcome and enjouraged.
-
- Thanks,
-
