- Greg Peckham mentions that the type F Ford fluid may not be the
- correct choice these days. This is true; things have changed at
- Ford.

- The type F fluid was an attempt to help the tranny live longer
- by allowing a bit of extra grip in the clutch plates. Unfortunately,
- this gain was offset by a decrease in its lubricating ability.

- More recently Ford has been specifying Mercon fluid for many of
- their transmissions. If you look in an auto parts store you will
- probably find ATF that says it can be used for either Mercon or
- GM applications.
