- : All right, issue one- did George Bush say that atheists should not
- : be U.S. citizens- the answer is no- What George Bush did say is that he is
- : not sure- for those deficient in the Logic area, A statement that X is true
- : is not the same as a statement that it is unknown if X is true. One is a
- : statement of certainty the other is a statement of uncertainty, for those

-
- Will, ol' buddy, you are taking a very un-nuanced view of things.
- When a scientists says, "I'm not sure if Lambda Alpha Muons are the
- building blocks of lemur thighs," he is expressing uncertainty.
- When George Bush says, "No, I'm not sure that {atheists} should be
- considered citizens," he is calling into question one of the basic
- principles upon which this country was founded, that of religious
- freedom- which even in it's most conservative form, must be
- interpreted to exclude religious tests for citizenship. THIS IS
- THE POINT! Everybody has already conceded that the words "I'm not
- sure" were included in the quote. You score big points. Now shut
- up about it, and TELL US WHAT YOU THINK HE MEANT!
-
- Thank You.

- : Issue two- does GB have a poor understanding of the constitution, etc.
- : This is slightly more complicated and for the time being I will leave it open.

- :
- : Is truth a young-republican inanity? If so, you'll just have to deal
- : with being annoyed.
- :
- :
- No, truth is a harsh mistress. I do deal with being annoyed, thank
- you very much. I've been annoyed for the last twelve years. Now
- I'm slightly less annoyed. But not much.
