  22. The film was called The Sluts and Goddess Video Workshop.  It's not
  23. exactly what I would call porn, although it does contain explicit
  24. imagery.  I totally understand the useage of the term "post-porn" for
  25. her stuff.

  27. The movie opens with Annie center stage.  She is dressed in a
  28. conservatively cut, navy blue dress, with a lovely beehive hairdo.
  29. (She reminds me of the woman who used to do Romper Room.)  She
  30. speaks in very calm terms as she opens this "self-help workshop"
  31. designed to help bring out the slut and goddess in every woman.

  33. Quickly, it becomes apparent that she is making a tremendous farce
  34. of the typical new-age Woman self-help video.  (She talks about
  35. the importance of a nice facial, and the proper make-up, etc.)
  36. She introduces six women who are our "transcendental guides" in this
  37. spiritual journey.  (There are no men in the movie, btw.)

  39. The basic format of the movie stays fairly constant.  Annie's school
  40. teacherish, innocent image is superimposed on the foreground of the
  41. movie, highlighted by a neon pink aura.  She casually strolls back
  42. and forth as she lectures.  Behind her cut-out image, our Guides, 
  43. and occasionally Annie herself, demostrate the "paths of exploration"
  44. which are the subject of her talk.  These "paths" include meditation,
  45. orgasmic breathing, "sexercises", and, of course, sex itself...  
  46. (She urges, "Come 'on!  Grab some friends and follow along with us!")

  48. Annie excels at bringing the taboo into the open, making it okay, and
  49. then laughing at it.  Like when she talks about choosing a "slut name"
  50. she says something like "choose something that refers to your favorite
  51. body part.  Like 'Lana Legs', or 'Betty Boobs'."  (She has a million
  52. examples that are better than those, but I've forgotten them.)  
  53. Personally, I find this very refreshing.  She makes me laugh at the
  54. sex industry.  ("Make some porn yourself.  You'll find that you can
  55. do it better than the professionals....")   In the light of day that
  56. Annie casts, I think most people would agree that the "dark and dirty
  57. business" as it stands today is really quite silly.  Very silly.

  59. Anyway, it was a real pleasure and think the whole audience got a 
  60. big kick out of it.  I think a couple people expected it to be more
  61. like a "real" porn movie, but that's just my guess.  I think I can
  62. say that I really did learn something from it too, so it was more
  63. than just a farcical laugh.

  65. I have not seen Annie in person, but a couple of my friend saw her
  66. and Karen Finley to a performance thing in Chicago not too long ago,
  67. and they said it was wonderful.
