- I have a CD with Gavorkna Fanfare on it and this is what it says about
- Jack Stamp:
-
- Jack Stamp (b. 1954 in Washington D.C.) is conductor of University Bands
- at Indiana University in Pennsylvania. Dr. Stamp studied composition with
- Fisher Tull and Robert Washburn and holds degrees from IUP, East Carolina
- U., and Michigan State University. He has a number of published works to
- his credit and has appeared as a guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator
- throughout the country.
-
- Gavorkna Fanfare expands the traditional brass and percussion instrumentation
- to include the full band. It is based on two contrasting melodic ideas which
- explore the rhythmic interaction of ostinato and counterpoint. The work
- was compoesd for and dedicated to Eugene Corporon and the Cincinnati
- Conservatory of Music Wind Symphony on the occassion of their appearance at
- the "Golden Anniversary" convention of the College Band Directors National
- Association.
