- Last year, the Queen's Own Highlanders toured with the Coldstream Guards,
- and my wife (who is a Stuart) and I went to see them. I was glad to hear
- her say first what I was thinking: those snares just aren't very precise
- when compared to the Vanguard and Blue Devils. I actually like the
- sound of bagpipes (in my case it's not genetic) but I wish the drums
- were more together somehow. Perhaps pipe bands don't strive for the
- same drum sound - but I think they would if they could "borrow" a really
- good snare line.
