- Just the thought coming from the recent topic of dying in dreams, or
- of a heart attack (or whatever that was):
-
- DON'T WORRY!!
-
- Don't forget that dreams are just dreams. Putting any special meaning
- *into* them can be dangerous. You're told (maybe via the net from a
- remote person who has never seen you) that your dream of X means that
- Y will happen, so you constantly think of the (probably very
- undesirable) implications of Y.
-
- While in reality nothing like Y has happened in the future(*), and X
- was instead built from thoughts about some Z you had sometimes, but
- you're not aware of Z from the worries you got from the bogus Y.
-
- This is one of my biggest concern about dream interpretation by other
- persons. I've stated repeatedly that nightmares are (partially)
- induced by fear of nightmares, and to overcome the vicious (sp?)
- circle you must abandon the fear first.
-
- Compare that to the wide range of literally self-fulfilling prophecies
- to be found in literature (esp. Greek mythology) and remember to not
- let yourself(!) catch you in the same trap.
-
- (*) I hope this is understandable... I don't exclude the possibility
- for actual precognition, but I think it never is as simple as 'I dream
- of your death, and you'll die tomorrow'... ugh, there was my posting
- about the railway accident... maybe that is a different issue... I'm
- not sure, really. But I don't worry about such things anyway; as long
- as the positive experiences about dreams outweigh the negative ones by
- orders of magnitude. (And this really has not been the case some years
- ago, but I think my altered attitude about it recently has helped.)
