- I have to take this stuff for my migraines. it's a beta blocker called
- Betachron. The doctor told me right up front that vivid dreams were
- a side effect. "Not just vivid. I'm talking Indiana Jones-kind of stuff
- here." Also, people on this drug tend to have very sexual dreams.
- This is true. Although I am a vivid dreamer to start, I had never
- had *any* sexual dreams whatsoever, but now i have them. My dreams
- are sometimes lucid now, and they are always very very adventurous.
- (This morning, for instance, I was floating down the Thames in a
- Tall Ship, right before I docked and went to my castle). Also I have
- found that when someone/something wakes me up, if I'm not awake
- for very long, and if I keep it on my mind, I can go back to sleep
- and pick up where I left off. That's a neat little trick, whereas
- before I would have to just be bummed for losing the dream.
-
- Maybe someone can help me out here...
- I'm not sure just what beta blockers do, or why they cause dreams
- like this. The Dr. said something about it being like LSD/ergot
- (I also get mild hallucinations on occasion, along with slowed
- heart rate). One theory I have heard is that since this drug
- depresses my overall sexual desire and make me lethargic, these
- dreams make up for it.
-
- So, it sounds like the anti-malaria stuff was much better than
- when I have, as far as dreams go, but this still makes for a
- pleasant sleep.
